Be a part of the Exchange
Pawling Theatre Exchange is self-quarantining on the campus of Trinity-Pawling School, following the CDC's recommendations. We are sharing all artists' distress at the loss of creative opportunities and employment, but proud of the collective spirit of the theatre community at large in taking all precautions to slow and eliminate the Covid-19/Coronavirus outbreak, offering art via social media platforms, and gathering resources for all that need help.
We remain optimistic that PTE 2020 will still happen and will monitor recommendations and best practices moving forward. We are grateful for the collective brains and souls thinking up remarkable ways to generate art and hope to be a beacon of light for many in June 2020. Be well, Kent and Tracy
Solitary Retreat: $100/day
This quiet respite is designed for the playwright in need of a quiet retreat away from their daily lives to give focus to writing their play(s). Includes a single dorm room with access to the spacious environs of the Trinity-Pawling campus, giving the writer the much needed unstructured time away in order to focus on their work. Participants are welcome to engage with public events as part of the Pawling Theatre Exchange, such as hearing other plays and joining in on curated discussions, as well as enjoying the communal atmosphere as much or as little as they so wish.
Write, Wright, and Listen: $125/day
Based in the tenants of the Solitary Retreat, this culminates with a closed table read with professional actors and facilitated by either Tracy Liz Miller or Kent Burnham, Co-Artistic Directors of PTE. Post-reading feedback is designed with the playwright’s needs in mind, structured in a tiered format based on Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process.
Workshop, Rinse, Repeat: $150/day with a minimum of 3 days
This more rigorous and involved process allows for process-oriented table reads, giving the playwright opportunity to rewrite after hearing their work read aloud with a dedicated theatre-making team including a director and professional actors. This culminates in a minimally staged reading open to PTE participants and community. The length of the process will be determined with the playwright.
Specific Curated Work Sessions: $150/day

Do you need time with a dramaturg, investigating the world in which your play lives? PTE is open to ideas and has resources and networks to connect you with collaborators that will move your work forward.

Bring your team! Designed for the company desiring a concentrated and uninterrupted creative rehearsal session in a dedicated rehearsal studio on campus. Includes dorm housing, 3 meals a day, and use of the grounds and exercise facilities. This may include a private or public showing TBD.

Ensemble In Residence
VISIONARY. ETHICAL. RESPONSIBLE.
The COOP was conceived out of the desire to create a community of NYC-based artists who are interested in making extraordinary theatre and committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, experimentation, and trust.
We produce both new plays that resonate with timeless themes and universal truths, and old plays reinvigorated through a new lens. We might try our hand at a musical, dance piece, puppet show, or opera.
